The duo of M.C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel composed the album with 99 different musicians, who were asked to contribute by playing anything that they wanted so long as the tempo of any rhythmic material was set at 99 beats per minute.

Among the included musicians are Oneohtrix Point Never, Yo La Tengo, Matthew Herbert, and Marisa Anderson. Check out the artwork and listen to the excerpt “No Concept,” featuring clipping. and David Grubbs, below. Physical copies of the album also come with a fold-out poster that visually tracks the timing of each of the 99 guest musician’s contributions through color-coded bars.
