The first 2025 album from Momus, Quietism, was recorded in Paris. The predominant styles this time are “melting bossa nova” and “sinister easy listening”. Paradoxically, the “quietism” proposed by the title (in fact quite descriptive of the defiantly gentle sound of 1960s Tropicalia) makes it a somewhat activist album for the dark times we may be heading into.
