Sylvain Chauveau has released numerous records on labels such as FatCat, Sub Rosa, Type, Les Disques du Soleil et de l’Acier, Brocoli, Flau: minimal, quiet compositions for acoustic instruments, electronics, silences, and sometimes voice.
He plays live internationally and has already toured in Europe, North America, Asia (Japan, Taiwan, Singapore), including: New York City (Knitting Factory, Le Poisson rouge), Tokyo (O-Nest), London (Café Oto), Paris (Grand Rex, Café de la Danse), Seattle (Decibel festival), The Hague (Rewire festival), Taipei (Formoz festival, P Festival), Madrid (La Casa Encendida), Chicago (MCA, The Wire festival), Istanbul (Zorlu), Montréal (Sala Rossa), Genève (La Batie), Singapore (Fringe festival), Brussels (Bozar), Moscow (Piano fields festival) and many other places.
His music has been performed by pianists such as Vanessa Wagner, Melaine Dalibert or François Mardirossian.
One of his compositions is on the compilation XVI Reflections on Classical Music (Decca / Universal) alongside with Philip Glass, Max Richter, Gavin Bryars, Ryuichi Sakamoto & Alva Noto, and Hauschka. He also had two tracks featured on the Kompakt compilation Pop Ambient.
He has composed a 7 year long piece entitled You Will Leave No Mark On The Winter Snow, full of silence and featuring only seventeen moments of hearable sounds, that was played online from 2012 to 2019.
He is a founding member of ensemble 0 (co-directed with Stéphane Garin). He was born in Bayonne (France) in 1971 and currently lives in Barcelone.
