Electro-Persian excursion by ethno-techno duo consisting of Iranian vocalist Sussan Deyhim and US electronic music composer Richard Horowitz. A groundbreaking album, dominated by Sussan Deyhim’s sublime voice, surging from behind virtual dunes and electronic oases, which prompted writer Paul Bowles to wonder: “Was this composed under the influence of Mahjoun?”
Having heard this amazing album, Bernardo Bertolucci entrusted most of the original score for “The Sheltering Sky” to Horowitz (who subsequently obtained a Golden Globe for it), an appropriate move also because Richard had become friends with Paul Bowles during his long stay in Morocco.
