High above the city, on a tall column, stood the statue of The Happy Prince. He was gilded all over with thin leaves of fine gold, for eyes he had two bright sapphires, and a large red ruby glowed on his sword-hilt. From his position on the column, the happy prince looks down upon the town and sees that the people are not as happy as he once thought. Now that he is a statue, he can see the full extent of the ugliness and misery around him, and enlists the help of a swallow to bring what happiness he can to the poor people he sees.
The Happy Prince is a very special tale brought to life by a storyteller and a musician.
