The wait is finally over! After two very long years of work, inspiration and sweat, the long-awaited sophomore album by the EVOLS is finally out.
If the first self-titled LP, was a sort of amalgamation of riffs, sonic experiments and improvisation, this second effort is clearly more rational and orientated. Simply titled “II”, the band’s new release is the consequence of profound transformations in the original ideas and sounds that gave birth to the unspoken- and still uncelebrated – trio. The most evident change is the line-up: the guitar-trio became a quintet – adding bass guitar and drums to the compositions -, and that alone created a all new range of possibilities to explore.
Tracks like “Religion” or “Want More Time” may remind you of some of the best moments of My Bloody Valentine or The Spacemen Three; others like “Kindness And Talk”, “Shelter”or “Kids Don’t Mind” are surely indie music new classics that will bring to your memory the 90’s, specially if you thinking about Pavement. But there is also time for some good old psychedelic- rock, as you can discover in “Sea Of Stars” or “I Am Too Young”.
“II” is a very good sequel for a band that still has a lot to tell!
