A side project from North Sea Radio Orchestra members, this new duo channels creativity and refined musicianship, moving fluidly through Renaissance, classical, medieval, folk, and contemporary territories.
As expected from Craig Fortnam – the mastermind behind NSRO – and Laurent Valero, who joined the ensemble for the acclaimed 2019 Robert Wyatt tribute Folly Bololey, this new collaboration delivers an intriguing blend of genres that has become Fortnam’s hallmark, recalling Elizabethan folk while embracing contemporary songwriting.
Recorded between England and Italy, Empty Vessels features James Larcombe on hurdy-gurdy and another Folly Bololey alumnus, vocalist Annie Barbazza.
The result is a unique and striking debut that fuses historical colors with modern musical language.
